This week, we are pleased to present a rare and refined panel by David Teniers the Younger, depicting Perseus and Andromeda, after one of the most celebrated mythological compositions by Peter Paul Rubens. Painted for the collection of Archduke Leopold Wilhelm of Austria, this work belongs to the prestigious group of reductions created for the Theatrum Pictorium, the very first printed museum catalogue in history. A particularly elegant composition, rich in atmosphere, offering a refined insight into the artistic dialogue between Rubens and Teniers at the Brussels court.
