This Sunday, we are delighted to present as our Private View of the Week an important rediscovery by Noël-Nicolas Coypel: The Infant Bacchus Entrusted to the Nymphs of Nysa, painted around 1715. Previously unpublished and recently identified by Dr François Marandet, this ambitious canvas constitutes a major addition to the remarkably rare œuvre of the youngest member of the celebrated Coypel dynasty. Executed around the time of his reception into the Académie Royale in 1716, it captures the artist at a decisive moment in his career.
